Arla Foods is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Production Operative to join our team at the Lockerbie Dairy. The ideal candidate will work a rolling shift pattern of 12-hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off, including 2 days and 2 nights shifts.

The candidate should have excellent communication skills, a good understanding of process flow, mechanical aptitude, and basic computer skills, along with enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards change and problem solving.

About the job

  • Assist in the efficient operation of packing lines in a busy milk production and packing site.
  • Contribute to quality and technical areas to ensure high-quality milk products are produced reliably and cost-effectively.
  • Operate production and packing lines using IT systems.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor equipment performance and address issues proactively.
  • Maintain high standards of Quality and Health & Safety, complying with Arla and customer procedures.
  • Conduct finished product quality checks.

Who are you?

  • Experience with process control/packing systems, mechanical aptitude, and basic computer skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene is desirable; training will be provided.
  • Ability to handle paperwork, data entry systems (SIC, SAP, MDE, OEE Database), and production logs.
  • Proactive team player with problem-solving skills for continuous improvement.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours, including weekends, shift work, and holiday cover.
  • Strong communication skills, organized, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
