We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Desford team as a Production Operative.

The role involves actively participating in the manufacturing process, ensuring all products meet quality standards, rejecting unsuitable products, and maintaining safety and efficiency to meet kiln, safety, output, and quality targets.

Your duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Completing daily safety checks at the start of each shift and reporting issues immediately.
  2. Monitoring each stage of the process for correct operation.
  3. Resolving stoppages and malfunctions, seeking assistance when necessary.
  4. Wearing PPE at all times.
  5. Ensuring safety systems and dust extraction units function correctly.
  6. Carrying out and signing off operator quality check sheets.
  7. Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the work area.
  8. Reporting irregularities or safety concerns to the Shift Manager.
  9. Following LOTOTO procedures when entering guarded areas.
  10. Adhering to risk assessments and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  11. Undertaking relevant training as required.
  12. Following Forterra’s Golden Rules.
  13. Conducting shift handovers effectively.
  14. Following site guidance for vehicles and pedestrians.
  15. Adhering to the site code of conduct.

Machinery must not be operated if defects are found; non-compliance will result in disciplinary action.

About You:

  • No formal qualifications are required; however, a minimum of 3 months training under supervision is necessary, including competency checks.
  • Training includes Company Induction, Competency Checks, COSHH, LOTOTO, Working at Heights, Spill Kit, PPE awareness, Working Safely, Fire Awareness, Noise Awareness, and FLT training if applicable.

Additional training deemed necessary for effective performance may be provided.
