Job summary
ThyssenKrupp Materials Ltd in Preston is seeking a Production Operative. You will operate Plate and Bar Saw machines, pick materials for orders, and load/unload vehicles while following safety procedures.
The role runs Monday to Friday with two shifts: 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm. You will ensure material is cut accurately and maintain warehouse traceability throughout the process.
Qualifications
- Proven experience setting and operating manufacturing machinery.
- Forklift truck experience required.
- Good organisational skills and reliability.
- Physically capable to meet job demands.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and a team player.
- Competent with scanning systems and IT tools.
Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Production Operative to join us here at our site in Preston! As a Production Operative, you will be picking material from the racks or picking up materials from a machine for customer orders and operating our Plate and Bar Saw machines to cut metal. You may also be required to load or unload vehicles and scan away to a rack location whilst adhering to quality and safety procedures.
Shift Pattern
Monday-Friday
Week 1 – 6am-2pm
Week 2 – 2pm-10pm
- Setting and operating Plate Saw and Bar Saw Machines
- Ensuring we have warehouse traceability
- Ensuring material is cut accurately
- Preparing customers' orders
- Checking of incoming and outgoing deliveries for quality and quantity
- Driving forklift trucks when authorised to gather material for the jobs and record all information on job sheets
- Use appropriate measuring equipment
- Experience setting and operating machinery within a manufacturing environment
- Fork lift truck experience
- Good organisational skills
- Reliability and dependability
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Self-motivated
- Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks
