Job summary

First Choice are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Food Production Operative in Ossett. You will work on an assembly line across rotating shifts (12 hours, breaks paid) with opportunities for temp-to-perm progression.

Roles include picking, mixing and packing ingredients, with emphasis on food safety, quality and teamwork. Training provided; ability to lift up to 25kg is required, and the site offers on-site parking and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in food production or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work efficiently on a production line following detailed instructions.
• Able to perform manual handling up to 25kg.
• Strong teamwork and a proactive attitude toward hygiene and safety.

Responsibilities

• Pick ingredients for orders and ensure correct quantities and food safety standards.
• Mix ingredients accurately and maintain correct item ratios.
• Pack finished product, operate bag sealing, labeling and palletising.
• Keep a clean, organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Assist with inventory by loading, unloading and storing materials.
• Follow health and safety and food safety protocols and use PPE correctly.
• Be vigilant to spot issues in the process and report hazard promptly.

Job role: Food Production Operative

Location: Ossett, WF5

Hours of work & payrates:

Dayshift - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday plus every other Saturday - £13.60/hr

Nightshift - Sunday to Wednesday - £14.42/hr

Rotating shifts - Mon & Tues (dayshift) plus Thurs & Fri (Nightshift) - £15.24/hr

All shifts are 12 hours (6am-6pm/6pm-6am) and all breaks are paid.

Overview
First Choice are recruiting on behalf of our client, an international producer of food prducts. We are looking for experienced production operatives to join our client's existing team due to increased business levels. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on an assembly line and contribute to the smooth running of a successful manufacturing facility, which is a temp to perm role. We are looking for motivated individuals who thrive in hands‑on roles and are eager to develop their skills within a collaborative team. Ideal candidates will have experience in a similar role and environment. This role also requires the ability to carry out manual handling up to 25kg.

Responsibilities

• Picking ingredients for orders, ensuring the correct items are selected and in the correct quantities, while also ensuring to work to food safety standards at all times
• Mixing ingredients, ensuring correct items & quantities are mixed
• Packing finished product, operate bag sealing machine, labelling & palletising
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace to promote safety and operational excellence
• Assist with inventory management by loading, unloading, and storing raw materials and finished goods
• Follow health and safety & food safety protocols rigorously, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting hazards promptly
• Vigilance at all times to spot issues in the process and reporting immediately

Skills

• Previous food production, factory or manufacturing experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
• Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately and work efficiently on a production line
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance
• Good physical stamina for standing, lifting, and manual tasks throughout shifts
• Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward hygiene, safety and continuous improvement
