Job summary

Vestas is seeking production operatives for blade manufacturing at the Newport site. You will manufacture blades according to the production plan, maintain quality, and ensure a safe and organized workspace.

The role involves lay-up work with carbon and glass fibre, resin application, bonding, and precision trimming using power tools. You will contribute to continuous improvements and takt time reductions as part of a committed team.

  • Build blades in accordance with the production plan.
  • Manufacture products to required quality standards using controlled documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work area.
  • Look after tools and equipment in your area.
  • Follow safe working practices and encourage colleagues to do the same.
  • Perform lay-up of materials (carbon fibre and glass fibre) in moulds as per lay-up plans.
  • Apply resins using vacuum equipment.
  • Apply bonding materials as required.
  • Use power tools for trimming and grinding to meet finish requirements.
  • Prepare material kits for fellow operatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including quality improvements and takt time reduction.

Job description

Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Building blades in accordance with the production plan
  • Manufacturing products to the required quality standards using the latest controlled documentation issued by Vestas
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised work area
  • Looking after tools and equipment within your work area
  • Following safe working practices and encouraging colleagues to do the same
  • Performing lay‑up of materials (carbon fibre and glass fibre) in moulds according to lay‑up plans
  • Applying resins using vacuum equipment
  • Applying bonding materials as required
  • Using power tools for trimming and grinding to meet the required finish
  • Preparing material kits for fellow operatives
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including quality improvements and Takt Time reduction activities
Shift Pattern
  • 4 days on, 4 days off: 06:45 – 19:00 (Day Shift)
  • 4 nights on, 4 days off: 18:45 – 07:00 (Night Shift)

Each shift is 12.25 hours in duration.
