Job description

Job Title: Production Manager – Steelwork

Location: Glasgow – Govan. We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Circa £69,000 commensurate with skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture that prioritises safety and wellbeing of all employees, whilst ensuring compliance with the companies HSE Environmental legislation
  • Primarily responsible and accountable for the delivery and execution of all structural steel/ outfit steel scope and the transition into painting and outfit scope on the T26 programme
  • Provide effective leadership working collaboratively with a multi-functional/ multi organisation team including major Subcontractors and OEM’s to ensure scope is completed safely, on time and to stringent quality requirements
  • Responsible for the team’s performance and daily earned value management progress through the detailed work plans and business system. Setting daily and weekly targets to ensure the team maintain due date performance and ensuring schedule adherence and milestone achievement throughout
  • Being responsible for influencing and co-ordinating planning of scope, resolving all internal and external dependencies including material management
  • Effective deployment of resource allocation for upcoming tasks to ensure operators are fully SQEP in planned activities or the balance of experience is suitably managed

Your Skills and Experiences

Essential

  • Recognised trade qualification – Trade papers and/or a Level 3 Vocational Qualification and a minimum National Certificate level academic qualification
  • Safety focused with experience in managing teams within a high-risk environment
  • Recognised experience in the manufacturing environment, successfully delivering a challenging package of work within the agreed budgets and timeframes
  • Excellent leadership, delegation and team building skills to deliver enhanced performance within a multi-disciplined team
  • Experienced in Earned Value Management, planning/ forecasting and budgeting

Desirable

  • Experience within the ship build/ ship repair/ maritime environment
  • Steelwork/ shipwright trade background, consolidation of steel structures

The Govan Delivery Team:
