Production Manager Nights
My client, an FMCG manufacturer based in the Caerphilly area, is currently looking for a Production Manager to oversee the manufacturing processes on the night shift. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting quality standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Manufacture all products according to plan, specification, and quality, while minimising waste. Ensure all tasks are done cost-effectively using modern lean manufacturing techniques.
- Understand the upcoming requirements in terms of production, resources, skills, and materials for the next day, week, and month.
- Communicate and take action on all KPIs: labour costs, yield, wastage, customer service, plan completion, quality reports, absence, and other related KPIs. Maintain site communications.
- Ensure all team members are trained, understand their objectives, meet standards, are reliable, punctual, and motivated.
- Ensure all employees are trained and signed off on relevant tasks. Liaise with the training department to keep records up to date and develop training plans.
- Have trained deputies for key roles to cover absences.
- Manage performance, conduct, attendance, investigations, suspensions, and disciplinary actions, up to dismissal with HR support.
- Coordinate with the Head of Operations on recruitment issues.
- Implement a process for employees to complete return-to-work forms after any absence and keep management informed of absence issues.
- Lead departmental tiered meetings.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of documentation and IT system information related to production, H&S, and technical matters.
- Maintain a safe working environment, including cleanliness, PPE compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to SSOW procedures. Engage staff in health and safety improvements.
- Collaborate with NPD and technical teams for production trials and new product launches.
- Work with other departments to resolve issues and provide solutions in line with company policies and specifications. Report beyond-control issues to the Head of Operations.
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a Production Manager in the FMCG industry.
- Strong background in supply chain management, continuous improvement, mechanical knowledge, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work night shift, 6 pm - 6 am, 7 days a fortnight.
- Based in a commutable distance from Caerphilly.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
Salary & Benefits:
- £40,000 - £45,000
