Job summary

A leading manufacturer of high-quality lamps and luminaries seeks a Production Manager in Normanton. In this role, you will oversee the assembly department, manage production schedules, and ensure compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess electrical qualifications and significant experience in production or assembly, driving improvements in efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a production or assembly position.
  • Experience in lighting product installation.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Assembly department and oversee lighting products production.
  • Lead implementation of quality control and health & safety procedures.
  • Develop production schedules and report on KPIs.

Skills

Electrical qualification (Level 3 Diploma or 18th Edition)
Experience with electrical wiring installations

We are currently looking to recruit a Production Manager - who has electrical qualifications or past experience for our client who are well-established, rapidly growing manufacturer of high-quality lamps and luminaries based in Normanton (WF6)


Salary: £40-50k per annum


Working Hours: 42.5hrs per week, Mon to Fri 8am to 5pm


Role Description



  • Managing the day-to-day running of the Assembly department and personnel, overseeing production management and assembly of all lighting products

  • Prioritising workloads and workflow, to ensure the efficient completion of works orders and inventory control

  • Creating and execute daily, weekly, monthly and annual production schedules

  • Follow and lead the production aspects of the Company's growth strategies, providing regular updates to the Board of Directors

  • Maintaining build equipment, ensuring any procedural documentation relevant to the Assembly Department is updated where required

  • Providing and conducting training for Assembly operatives, surrounding safe working procedures and product information, implementing SOP's

  • Production of manufactured products and point of sales displays, assembling electrical panels and customer specified lighting products

  • Product rework as and when required

  • When required, support with technical calls and emails relating to any product builds

  • Providing cover for the QC Test Department when required

  • Leading and developing the Quality Control team in a fast-paced environment, ensuring cross-skilled throughout the department.

  • Monitoring productivity rates, standards and quality control, reporting on KPIs, budgets, and production performance

  • Implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement strategies.

  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.)

  • Identifying and troubleshooting production bottlenecks to improve efficiency.

  • Managing health & safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.

  • Ensuring the company's procedures and policies are followed across the department

  • Communicating any problems or obstacles to senior management

  • Training and coaching Quality Control Operatives, both new and current employees

  • Implementing safety, health, environment and quality requirements


Skills & Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience within a similar role in the electrical industry:



  • Electrical qualification with Level 3 Diploma as minimum, or 18th Edition

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within a production or assembly position

  • Experience of working with electrical wiring installations

  • Experience in lighting product installation

  • Competence in software packages to include Microsoft Office and Epicor

  • Good customer interaction skills

  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and wiring diagrams

  • Experience with soldering would be advantageous
