Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to oversee our Engineered Belt workshop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Production Management: Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing processes to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget.
  2. Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a team of production workers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  3. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control standards to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  4. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  5. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, ensuring optimal stock levels.
  6. Safety Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
  7. Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, including key metrics and KPIs.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production management role, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

Production Manager Roles and Responsibilities – Engineered Belt Workshop
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety and conduct regular safety training and drills.
  • Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of production workers, providing direction, training, and performance feedback. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance team productivity and morale. Use attendance tracking tools to monitor patterns and address issues early. Encourage open communication so employees feel comfortable discussing their reasons for absence, which can help in providing support or making necessary adjustments. Conduct regular performance reviews to provide constructive feedback and set clear expectations. Use performance management tools to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Recognize and reward good performance to motivate employees, and provide training or support for those who are struggling to meet expectations.
  • Production Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and control the manufacturing processes to ensure timely and cost-effective production. Monitor production schedules and adjust as needed to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet industry standards and customer specifications. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues.
  • On Time Delivery: Develop a detailed production schedule that includes all stages of the production process, from raw material procurement to final product delivery. Use project management tools to track progress and identify potential bottlenecks early. Regularly review and adjust the schedule to accommodate any changes or unforeseen delays. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials. Implement an inventory management system to keep track of stock levels and reorder materials before they run out. This helps prevent production delays due to material shortages.
  • Process Improvement: Analyse production processes and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Implement lean manufacturing techniques and best practices to optimize workflow.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure adequate supply without overstocking. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely ordering of materials. Conduct and coordinate frequent stock counts and annual stock takes.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed reports on production performance, including key metrics and KPIs. Document production processes and maintain accurate records for auditing and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as site service, procurement, and sales, to ensure seamless operations. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align production goals with overall business objectives.
  • Budget Management: Manage the production budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply technical knowledge to troubleshoot production issues and implement innovative solutions.
