Position: Production Manager

Location: Labman HQ, Seamer, North Yorkshire

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (based on experience)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Production Manager to oversee and lead production operations within our bioprocess automation business unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced manufacturing processes, lean principles, and team leadership within a high-tech or robotics environment. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production of robotic systems and components.

What You Will Do

  1. Lead daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety regulations are met or exceeded.
  2. Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, production plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  3. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to optimise product design for manufacturability.
  4. Establish and monitor KPIs related to production efficiency, downtime, quality, and labour utilisation.
  5. Ensure adherence to lean manufacturing principles and drive waste reduction initiatives across the facility.
  6. Manage budgets, production schedules, and resource allocation.
  7. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience, within the robotics, automation, or high-tech manufacturing sector.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.
  • Proven experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
