Job summary

Gardner Denver in Redditch is seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead a team of skilled operatives. You will oversee daily production activities, ensure quality standards, and drive operational efficiency in the manufacture of large air compressors.

You will plan and coordinate production, monitor KPI performance, and manage staffing and training. The role requires strong leadership, IT literacy, and a solid understanding of mechanical assembly and production processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a managerial/supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical assembly and production processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• IT literate with MS Office and ERP systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate production activities to meet output/quality targets.
• Monitor and drive KPI performance (e.g., efficiency, scrap rates, downtime).
• Ensure correct skill level using a skills matrix and organise training.
• Lead problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage staffing levels, shift cover and absence reviews.
• Liaise with HR to lead disciplinary/investigation meetings.
• Conduct performance reviews and support development of Team Leaders.
• Collaborate with support functions (ManEng, EHS, Quality, HR) to drive improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Plan and coordinate production activities to meet output/quality targets
• Monitor and drive KPI performance (e.g., efficiency, scrap rates, downtime).
• Ensure correct skill level of their factory, using skills matrix to identify gaps and organise training to support.

• Liaise with HR to lead disciplinary/investigation meetings
