Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule workshop production through the ERP system.
• Ensure projects are delivered within hours and material budgets.

• Monitor quality and manage performance across the workshop.
• Review drawings and cutting lists before production.
• Provide joinery expertise and solve shop floor problems.
• Manage Goods In/Out, stock, packing, storage and delivery planning.
• Control stock in line with FSC requirements.
• Ensure machinery, FLTs and tools are maintained.
• Oversee timekeeping, absence, training and inductions.
• Develop apprentices and support recruitment of operatives.
• Collaborate with management to implement workshop improvements.

Production Manager - Bespoke Joinery

This is not a job for someone who wants to simply keep the workshop ticking over.

You’ll take ownership.

People. Production. Quality. Safety. Deadlines. Materials.

All of it.

We’re working with an established bespoke joinery business delivering high-value projects, and they’re looking for a Production Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop.

The objective is simple:

Get the right work built, to the right standard, on time and within budget.

Your role

You’ll take control of workshop operations, making sure production is properly planned, people are performing, quality is maintained and client deadlines are hit.

That means you’ll be responsible for:

• Planning and scheduling workshop production through the company ERP system
• Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed hours and materials budgets
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and housekeeping
• Monitoring quality and managing performance across the workshop
• Reviewing drawings and cutting lists before work reaches production
• Providing joinery expertise and solving problems on the shop floor
• Managing Goods In and Goods Out, including stock, packing, storage and delivery planning
• Controlling stock in line with FSC requirements
• Ensuring machinery, FLTs and tools are properly maintained
• Managing timekeeping, absence, training, inductions and performance
• Developing apprentices and helping build the next generation of skilled joiners
• Working closely with the wider management team to identify and implement workshop improvements
• Supporting recruitment of apprentices, joiners and general operatives

Who are we looking for?

You need strong joinery knowledge and genuine workshop experience.

But technical ability alone won’t be enough.

You’ll need to be comfortable leading people, making decisions and taking ownership when something isn’t going to plan.

You should be the sort of manager who spots a problem before it becomes a missed deadline.

Someone who can walk onto the shop floor, understand what’s happening, challenge poor standards, support the team and keep production moving.

And when there’s an opportunity to improve the way the workshop operates, you’ll be expected to make it happen, not just talk about it.
