Role: Production Manager
Salary: £40,000 to £42,500 per annum, plus bonus and benefits including private medical, life assurance, and pension
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm (flexibility required)
Location: Commutable from Anstey, Glenfield, Leicester, Groby, and surrounding areas

We are currently recruiting for a Production Manager for a reputable and large industrial company to work at one of their fast-paced, leading automated flagship factories that has just received a multi-million pound investment on new machinery commissioned into the factory.

You will be joining a growing department with challenges to overcome, which would suit someone who welcomes these and is excited by this prospect, to be part of the journey and future of the factory.

Your department will include 60 production staff and 1 Production Leader.

Responsibilities

This role involves managing and overseeing the Production Department, including team performance, change management, continuous improvements, KPIs, strategic planning, and budget control.

This role suits someone motivated and excited by challenges, viewing them as opportunities to make an impact and bring their experience and ideas to implement necessary changes and improvements. It requires a hands-on approach with effective leadership and continuous improvements, ideally with experience in lean manufacturing methodologies to help Production Staff reach their full potential.

  • Deliver production targets; volume/yield/waste reduction
  • Lead and organize a team to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Ensure the safety of all site personnel at all times
  • Have excellent knowledge of the plant and process to help make informed decisions
  • Manage within budgetary cost constraints, notably overtime, materials, etc.
  • Support and promote a continual improvement culture in line with objectives
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments and stakeholders
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are available when required (e.g., packaging materials, additives, PPE)
  • Identify staff training needs and liaise with relevant departments to action them
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, or near misses within 24 hours and communicate findings

Requirements

  • Experience in a production or manufacturing environment, managing and leading production teams
  • Proven track record in implementing continuous improvements successfully
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, capable of inspiring people at all levels
  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques is advantageous
  • Qualifications in relevant fields such as business, engineering, production, or technical areas are advantageous; equivalent experience considered
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications are advantageous
