Job summary

Instrument Transformers Limited in the Glasgow area is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations and lead a team of around 25 staff, delivering quality products to international customers.

You will drive continuous improvement, optimise production processes, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and collaborate with senior management to meet schedules and cost targets. This role offers a collaborative SME environment within a family-owned business.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar in electrical engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership to manage and develop a 25-person team.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with production planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day production operations to meet international customer demands and delivery schedules.
  • Supervise and motivate production staff, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
  • Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes with Senior Management to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Maintain quality control standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.
  • Work closely with the Production Director to align production strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Oversee inventory management & procurement team, ensuring availability of materials while minimising waste.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations , promoting a culture of workplace safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, lean manufacturing principles, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales and administration teams to provide order status feedback, aiding optimum operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and present production reports, KPIs, and performance metrics.

Job Summary

We seek an experienced and driven Production Manager to oversee day-to-day production operations at our Glasgow Area-based facility. The successful candidate will manage a team of approximately 25 employees, ensure efficient production workflows, meet international customer demands, and maintain high-quality standards. Candidate Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, health and safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in using production planning software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline (desirable but not essential).
  • Must be enthusiastic about supporting the company’s continued growth plans.
