Job description

GPW Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established UK manufacturing business to recruit a Production Manager for their site in Burnley.

This is a newly created position within a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. The company operates across multiple buildings with a 24/7 production schedule and supplies a wide range of products to leading UK and international retailers. Continued growth and investment in people, processes and sustainability have led to the creation of this role.

The Role

The Production Manager will oversee day-to-day operations across the manufacturing site, leading a team of over 60 employees. The role offers a 50/50 balance between people management and production planning, with scope to develop into a more strategic leadership position over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support supervisors, setters, and operatives across a multi-shift operation
  • Manage rotas, agency labour, and workforce planning to meet production targets
  • Drive compliance with health and safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Embed structure and accountability across the supervisory team
  • Implement and report on key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Coordinate with other departments including engineering, quality, HR, and supply chain
  • Maintain a strong shop floor presence and act as a point of contact for daily operations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and audit readiness

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a hands-on production leadership role, ideally in plastics, injection moulding, or high-volume manufacturing
  • Experience managing large teams (60+), including multi-shift or 24/7 operations
  • Strong track record of improving performance and embedding structure
  • Confident handling employee relations including absence management and team development
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles

Desirable Qualifications And Skills

  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (not essential)
  • First Aid or Fire Marshal trained (training can be provided)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and production planning tools
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Benefits

  • £40,000 £50,000 (DOE) per annum, depending on experience
