Job summary

Quantum Packaging, based near Edinburgh in Musselburgh, is hiring a Production / Machine Operator on a full-time, permanent basis. You will set up machines to start production cycles, control speeds, and feed raw materials into semi-automated lines to maximise efficiency and product quality.

Ideal candidates have experience with high-speed machinery, measurement tools, and a strong safety mindset. A high school diploma is required, with a technical degree considered a plus.

Responsibilities

Production / Machine Operator

Location: Musselburgh, EH21 6SYSalary: £28K - £30K per annum, inclusive of shift allowance!Contract: Full time, Permanent

We are an established and growing manufacturer of flexible food packaging, supplying products to some of the UK's best-known food and hospitality brands.

We are recruiting for a Production / Machine Operator to join us on a full time, permanent basis.

This is a key role where you will set up machines to start a production cycle, control and adjust the machine settings and feed raw material or parts into semi-automated machines.

Your goal is to ensure that production procedures are carried out smoothly to maximise efficiency and profits whilst maintaining a safe operating environment at all times.

Responsibilities

• Setting up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
• Controlling and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
• Feeding raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
• Inspecting parts with precision and measuring tools
• Testing operation of machines periodically
• Fixing issues that might occur during the shift
• Checking output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
• Keeping records of approved and defective units or final products
• Maintaining activity logs
• Using forklift to move raw materials, semi-processed and finished goods.
• Cleaning of production area's to a high standard.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a machine operator.
• Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
• Understanding of production procedures
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
• Analytical skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
• Valid forklift drivers licence desirable
