As a senior member of the Hardware Engineering team, you will work to lead, coordinate, and develop the production team in the successful manufacture of control systems within the defence industry. The role is ideal for a highly experienced Production Engineer with a background and working knowledge of both Electrical & Mechanical Engineering to grow the Production Engineering capabilities.

This role requires developing close working relationships between our production team, design & engineering teams, senior leadership team, and procurement team. The primary tasks will be to plan and lead engineering work-packages and support project delivery, working closely with our suppliers to ensure their production activities are managed to timescales to meet programme objectives and manufactured to defined standards. Most manufacturing will be undertaken by third parties but may require customer interaction and visits to supplier sites to support manufacture, testing, and inspection, as needed.

Specialist engineering knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical systems on various defence programmes from a manufacturing perspective is preferred.

Note: this role is above and beyond your technical engineering activities. The following line management responsibilities are expected to take circa 50% of your time.

To provide leadership, people management, and development support to our staff, ensuring the delivery of the discipline strategy through a focused and consistent approach.

To listen to team issues, collate and escalate when necessary, for correct and timely action.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain processes and procedures for successful manufacturing.
• Oversee production progress reports and communicate with stakeholders including suppliers and customers.
• Lead and support the production team across multiple disciplines and projects.
• Lead process improvements aligning with practice panels.
• Manage change control during design or customer/supplier changes.
• Line management of Engineers, including career development, talent, performance, and resource management.

• Knowledge of electrical build standards
