What you will do:
The role holder will report to the Orals Stream Manager. In this role you will leading your team to achieve production targets whilst meeting all expectations with respect to Health and Safety, Quality, and Delivery whilst remaining cost aware. Supporting the growth of the Production team through a coaching culture and illustrating a challenging, collaborative, continuous improvement mindset.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe workplace through risk management, hazard control, and regulatory adherence.
  • Product Quality: Ensure GMP compliance, supervise operations, and drive process improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, support, and develop staff to meet production goals and maintain motivation.
  • Training & Development: Identify skills gaps, implement training plans, and ensure mandatory training completion.
  • Performance Management: Use positive performance practices to address issues and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily schedules, labour planning, and resource allocation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Review and refine systems, tools, and processes; lead change initiatives and projects.
  • Problem Solving: Investigate losses, downtime, and quality events to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Documentation & Audits: Maintain accurate GMP documentation, host inspections, and ensure reporting compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Quality, and Planning to sustain BAU processes and support NPD.


About you:
The role requires clear and confident communication, both written and verbal, with strong presentation skills. You must be able to motivate yourself and others, remain calm under pressure, and handle complex or multiple issues at once with a high level of attention to detail. A problem-solver with a coaching mindset, you will be articulate, approachable, and demonstrate honesty, integrity, and accountability. You will be target-driven, able to make sound decisions, and committed to achieving results through both personal contribution and team development.

Basic skills and qualifications:
Essential

  • A' Level/NVQ or equivalent.
  • 3+ years' managerial experience in pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing.
  • Skilled in on-the-job training delivery.
  • Fast-paced manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of minor equipment breakdowns, basic engineering, RCA, and H&S legislation.
  • Degree in Engineering/Manufacturing or related field.
  • Management experience in pharmaceutical GMP with large teams (15+).
  • Experience with sterile/aseptic products.
  • NVQ Level 3/5 in Management/Leadership.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent.

Working Hours

Sunday to Thursday night shift working 9:45pm- 6:00am.

Our Romford facility is located 20 miles from the centre of London and consists of over 6700 square metres of a high-quality, modern pharmaceutical facility where we mix, fill, sterilise, inspect, pack, and label a wide range of medicines.
