Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company, employing over 2,000 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to UK Defense customers, including E-7 AEW&C, P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Through Life Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Logistic Information Services, and Training Services.

The Role:

This position is for a Production Engineering Manager reporting to the BDUK Design, Maintenance, Modifications, and Manufacturing Engineering Manager. The role serves as the First Line Leader for a team of Production Engineers supporting the E7 Build Program.

The manager will oversee the Material Review Board (MRB), Manufacturing Planning (MP), Manufacturing Engineering (ME), and Industrial Engineering (IE) teams, interfacing with on-site leadership to ensure efficient operations and support for the programs. Additionally, the role involves providing direct input to deliver the production engineering scope and supporting business development opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Grow the engineering capability from both strategic and tactical perspectives
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering functions and interfaces
  • Contribute engineering inputs to programs
  • Support business development campaigns and proposals
  • Manage tasks related to direct reports
  • Develop and maintain Statements of Work (SOW) to meet current and future program needs
  • Respond to SOW changes, assess impacts, and negotiate modifications
  • Identify metrics and report on functional performance
  • Monitor project performance, efficiencies, and lessons learned
  • Coordinate resources and report on weekly reviews
  • Plan for risk, issue, and opportunity mitigation
  • Provide technical coordination for project execution

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
  • Understanding of Material Review Board, Manufacturing Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, and Industrial Engineering processes
  • Experience in Technical Planning, Systems Engineering, and IT skills; strong leadership and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to influence staff without direct control and think creatively in challenging circumstances
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance
