Job summary

Cornwall Staff Agency Limited in the Padstow area is seeking a permanent nights electrical / mechanical engineer to maintain and repair printing and bookbinding machinery. The role involves site maintenance, project support, and helping to train apprentices while upholding health and safety standards.

You will work nights on a shift pattern (4 x 10H or 5 x 8H) with a focus on reliable operation, ongoing improvements, and compliance with ISO standards and statutory regulations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in maintenance and repair of production machinery, especially printing machinery.
• City & Guilds or NVQ in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned repair and maintenance of printing and bookbinding machinery to standards.
• Inspect and maintain site and building equipment on a daily basis.
• Support installation and project work on equipment within the printing and bookbinding trade.
• Work independently to maintain high standards of maintenance and safety.
• Assist in supervising and training apprentices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations.
• Perform routine testing (PAT, fixed wiring, RCD) to meet regulations.

Our client, an established Bindery firm based near Padstow are seeking a permanent nights electrical / mechanical engineer to join their team.

What we offer:

The role:

• Carry out planned repair and maintenance of printing and bookbinding machinery, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
• Conduct daily repair, maintenance, and inspection of ancillary site and building equipment.
• Support installation and project work on equipment within the printing and bookbinding trade, as well as other site equipment.
• Work independently and proactively to maintain high standards of maintenance and health & safety.
• Assist in supervising and training apprentices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations.
• Undertake any reasonable duties associated with the role.
• Perform regular testing (PAT, fixed wiring inspections, RCD testing) to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
• Recommend and implement improvements or modifications to electrical systems and machinery.

Qualifications and relevant experience:

• Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of production machinery - Especially printing machinery.
• City & Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• A proactive, flexible, and problem-solving approach.
• Experience with industry standard systems and processes (ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, 27001).
