The successful Production Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing tooling, fixtures, and stage drawings to support repeatable and efficient production.
- Creating clear SOPs, training materials, and operating procedures for shopfloor use.
- Generating 3D and 2D engineering documentation and Bills of Materials using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Supporting new product introduction by planning manufacturing methods and ensuring smooth handover from design to production.
- Delivering technical training to upskill operators and embed best practices on the shopfloor.
- Driving continuous improvement projects using lean methodologies to reduce waste and boost output.
- Liaising with internal teams (engineering, production, logistics, and project management) to support smooth production flow.
- Supporting cost estimates, production planning, and future capacity forecasting.
- Offering engineering input into designs, ensuring components are manufacturable, safe, and efficient to assemble.
To be considered for this Production Engineer role, you’ll need:
- A degree or HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or similar).
- At least 5 years’ experience within a manufacturing or engineering setting.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining, welding, anodising, NDT, and assembly methods.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working across departments and with suppliers.
- A methodical approach to documentation and BOM creation, with a good eye for detail.
- A safety-first mindset and familiarity with ISO 9001 and QHSE procedures.
- Desirable: Experience with structural analysis, hydraulics, or mechanisms is a bonus, as is the ability to consider costings, profitability, and commercial impact in engineering decisions.
