Job summary

Carlsberg Group is seeking a Production Engineer for our Northampton site to maintain and optimise production assets, working with engineering and production teams to keep operations safe, efficient and reliable.

The role requires a recognised mechanical engineering qualification and hands-on maintenance experience in FMCG/manufacturing environments, with CMMS proficiency and a focus on predictive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Proven ability in maintaining and improving production assets.
• Experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within FMCG/manufacturing environments.
• Experience with predictive maintenance and safety/compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• System optimisation — work with engineering teams to improve performance, reduce downtime and drive technical improvements.
• Mechanical & electrical maintenance — diagnose and repair faults using advanced tools and techniques.
• Safety & compliance — ensure full adherence to LOTO, electrical safety and environmental standards, maintaining detailed CBM records.
• Infrastructure support — maintain site utilities and electrical distribution systems to ensure reliable operation.
• Team collaboration — partner with production teams and mentor apprentices, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Lean practices — support 5S, Kaizen and Autonomous Maintenance initiatives.
• Condition monitoring — conduct vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound and other predictive maintenance activities.

Education

Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)

Production Engineer

Location: Northampton Brewery, NN1 1PZ

Job Length: Permanent – Full Time

Working Hours: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 off.

Reporting to the Process Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving and optimising our production assets. You’ll collaborate across engineering and production teams to keep our operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

• Experience in a multi‑skilled maintenance role within FMCG, manufacturing or industrial environments
• Advantageous: certifications in welding, hydraulics, pneumatics or rotating machinery
• Experience using CMMS systems
