Carlsberg Britvic is seeking an Engineering Team Leader – B&P & Packing in Northampton. You will lead a multi-skilled maintenance team on a 2 days/2 nights, 4 off shift, ensuring safety, compliance and dependable equipment performance in a high-volume environment.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in FMCG maintenance, and expertise in TPM/Lean methodologies, SAP CMMS, and collaboration across functions to optimise performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering maintenance teams in FMCG/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of HSE, LOTO and food safety standards.
• Ability to drive Lean, TPM and structured problem-solving.
• Qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a multi-skilled engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environment standards and food safety.
• Manage performance through appraisals, training plans and mentoring.
• Plan and coordinate reactive and preventative maintenance to maximise reliability.
• Drive continuous improvement using TPM, Kaizen and Six Sigma.
• Manage SAP CMMS usage and maintenance reporting.

This is an exciting time to join the Northampton Brewery where you will be a part of a highly skilled maintenance team, delivering and driving results in a modern operation. Role Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop a multi-skilled engineering team, creating a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), LOTO and food safety standards, championing safe engineering practices across the shift.
• Manage team performance through appraisals, return-to-work interviews, training plans and effective performance management.
• Support the development of engineering capability through coaching, skills development, certification management and apprentice mentoring.
• Plan, prioritise and coordinate reactive and preventative maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using TPM, RCA, Kaizen, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve operational performance.
• Monitor and improve engineering KPIs, including preventative maintenance delivery, MTBF, MTTR and asset reliability measures.
• Ensure accurate use of SAP CMMS, maintaining high standards of maintenance reporting, data quality and asset management.
• Manage engineering resources, contractors, permits, RAMS, isolations and shutdown activities to ensure safe and effective delivery of maintenance work.
• Support cost control and efficiency initiatives through waste reduction, spare parts optimisation and ongoing review of maintenance practices and performance.

Experience and Key Attributes:

• Proven experience leading engineering maintenance teams within an FMCG, brewing, packaging or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering maintenance planning, asset reliability and preventative maintenance best practice.
• Knowledge of engineering, quality, health & safety, environmental and regulatory standards within a production environment.
• Ability to drive continuous improvement through Lean, TPM and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, or able to demonstrate significant relevant leadership experience.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance quality, safety, cost and performance priorities.
• Excellent people leadership skills with experience coaching, mentoring, developing and empowering teams.
• Proven ability to collaborate across functions, build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Experience using SAP CMMS, BI systems and other engineering or maintenance management tools.
• Results-driven with a customer-focused mindset, high levels of personal accountability and a passion for delivering operational excellence.
