Production Design Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Production Design Engineer (Mechanical) with extensive knowledge in mechanical design, fabrication, and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how things are made, with the ability to design components and systems that are cost-effective and optimised for production.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Design
" Apply deep knowledge of fabrication processes (e.g., welding, machining, sheet metal work) to ensure designs are practical for large-scale production.
" Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure that designs align with manufacturing capabilities and processes.
" Provide accurate costing for materials and fabrication processes, optimising designs to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
" Oversee the creation of prototypes and conduct performance tests to validate designs before full production.
" Create comprehensive technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications to guide fabrication and production teams.
" Work with suppliers to source materials and components that meet design and cost requirements.
" Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality through design improvements.
Key Requirements:
" A minimum of 2 years' experience in mechanical design, fabrication, and production engineering.
" In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes such as welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
" CAD Proficiency using Lantech programme
" Advanced skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for creating detailed designs and technical drawings.
" Strong understanding of material costs, fabrication costs, and the ability to perform cost analysis for projects.
" Deep understanding of how products are made, from raw materials to finished goods, with an emphasis on practical, scalable designs.
