Production Coordinator - Mars, Royal Canin

Location: Castle Cary

Type: Permanent

Salary: Circa £28,000 + shift pay & company bonus

Shift Pattern: This role offers a 32-hour work week with alternating weekend shifts. You'll typically work a 12-hour shift (10 pm - 10 am or 10 am - 10 pm) on Saturday and Sunday, plus 8 hours during the week on a day that suits you.

Role Overview

As our Production Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of production. You'll be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring various production activities to consistently meet our established specifications, schedules, volume, cost, waste, and quality standards.

  • Proven experience in running food processes or packaging lines within an FMCG environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate diverse activities within a dynamic operational setting.
  • Experience in managing or leading people is a significant plus, offering opportunities for further development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Production Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Deliver and exceed targets while monitoring performance, coaching, and ensuring accurate data capture for ongoing process enhancement.
  • Coordinate Seamless Shift Operations & Communication: Effectively manage diverse operational activities and facilitate clear, timely communication through Job Transition Meetings.
  • Empower Team Performance & Contribution: Create and manage weekly crewing plans, assigning non-core tasks (Hygiene, Quality, Ownership, TMS, Safety) to optimize team contribution.
  • Uphold Quality and Safety Standards: Maintain optimal running conditions and ensure full QSSM (Quality Safety Security Mars) compliance for a safe, high-quality production environment, proposing and implementing QSSM amendments in collaboration with R&D.
  • Ensure Operational Continuity & Problem Solving: Provide hands-on support on production lines as needed and actively contribute to problem-solving within Daily and Lead FMOS meetings.
