Job summary

AMS is seeking a Production Controller for a 12 month contract based in Barnoldswick. The role is hybrid—3 days on site, 2 days remote—requiring strong production planning and SAP/MRP skills.

You will manage a defined portfolio of engine components for Defence and Civil programmes, ensuring plans meet customer delivery requirements and data integrity within SAP. Umbrella or PAYE engagement models only.

Job description - the role

Purpose of the role:

• Manage a defined portfolio of engine components across Defence and Civil programmes, ensuring production and delivery plans remain aligned with customer requirements.
• Maintain accurate MRP and planning data within SAP, proactively managing material availability, inventory and delivery risks within a complex manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors and logistics providers to support production performance and on-time delivery.

What you’ll do:

• Continuously realign short-term production and delivery plans in line with changing customer requirements.
• Maintain MRP and supporting planning systems within SAP, ensuring data accuracy and ERP compliance.
• Identify and manage material shortages, excess inventory and delivery risks, implementing mitigation and recovery actions where required.
• Work closely with Production Leaders, Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering teams and other stakeholders to maintain alignment against delivery plans.
• Manage a small portfolio of subcontractors, completing regular delivery reviews, monitoring SLA adherence and escalating performance issues.
• Liaise with third-party logistics providers to support the timely receipt, movement and despatch of components.

Take ownership of production planning and control activities, supporting effective inventory governance within a complex manufacturing environment.

The skills you’ll need:

• Previous supply chain, production planning or materials planning experience within a complex manufacturing environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working across Production, Manufacturing, Engineering and wider cross-functional teams.
• Strong SAP experience, particularly within an MRP or production planning environment.
• Strong Excel capability and experience working with planning and performance data.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, material constraints and delivery requirements.
• Experience within a regulated or engineering-led industry such as Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear, Automotive, Oil & Gas or Pharmaceutical would be beneficial.
• APICS/ASCM Supply Chain Management certification, or working towards one, would be advantageous.
