Job summary

Babcock, a global defence engineering leader, is hiring a Production Controller at their Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth. This full-time role with hybrid working arrangements supports major naval engineering programmes.

You will coordinate production activities, develop schedules, manage stakeholders across operations and engineering, and help deliver projects safely, efficiently and to high standards. Security clearance SC is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a production planning, project controls, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Understanding of production planning and scheduling processes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, safe systems of work, and continuous improvement practices.

The role

As a Production Controller, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the successful delivery of major naval engineering programmes. Working with a wide range of stakeholders, you will coordinate production activities, enable work packages, resolve scheduling and resource challenges, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You'll be part of a collaborative team focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and safe delivery.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Production Controller

• Experience in a production planning, project controls, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Understanding of production planning and scheduling processes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, safe systems of work, and continuous improvement practices.

Qualifications for the Production Controller

• ONC qualification or equivalent is desirable.
• Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
