Job summary

The One Group in Cambridge, UK is seeking a Software Engineer in Production Engineering. You will develop software tools and automation to support manufacturing processes, product testing, and system configuration, collaborating with hardware, embedded systems, and production teams.

The role blends software development with hands-on engineering, offering exposure to real-world, advanced technologies and close teamwork across R&D and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field.
• Experience developing software tools for production test or process automation.
• Strong experience with LabVIEW for test automation.
• Understanding of software release processes and configuration control.
• Ability to troubleshoot software and firmware issues in hardware-integrated systems.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working across both development and manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Support transfer of products from R&D into manufacturing environments.
• Develop automated test solutions for functional verification, calibration, and system validation.
• Integrate test software with fixtures and automated test equipment (ATE).
• Design processes for firmware flashing, software installation, and product configuration.
• Ensure traceability and version control of software throughout the product lifecycle.
• Drive improvements in manufacturing efficiency through automation and tooling enhancements.
• Support root cause analysis and resolution of production issues.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and release processes.
• Act as an interface between R&D, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
