Job summary

FIRST HYDRO COMPANY at ENGIE UK is recruiting a Production Assistant to support electrical and mechanical crafts, riggers, and technicians at the Ffestiniog power station. The role emphasizes safe, efficient operations and environmental responsibilities on site.

You will perform routine tasks, assist with maintenance, manage waste and environmental monitoring, operate equipment safely, and help uphold EH&S standards. A hands-on, team-driven environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working to safety procedures in an industrial setting.
• Hands-on experience with handheld power tools, workshop machines, and lifting equipment.
• Valid forklift truck licence and overhead crane operating licence.
• Full driving licence and working knowledge of LOLER/PUWER.

Responsibilities

• Assist electrical and mechanical craft workers, technicians, riggers, and scaffolders in daily duties.
• Maintain housekeeping standards across power station buildings, plant, and equipment.
• Perform routine manual tasks, minor repairs, and basic operation of workshop power equipment.
• Manage environmental responsibilities including hazardous waste, solvent storage, water courses, and legionella monitoring.
• Operate forklift trucks, MEWPs, cranes, hoists, and winches safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Carry out plant, auxiliary, and vehicle inspections, recording findings in the works management system.
• Uphold safety responsibilities under National Grid Company Safety Rules and EH&S legislation.

• Manage environmental responsibilities including hazardous waste, solvent storage, water courses, and legionella monitoring

• Uphold safety responsibilities under National Grid Company Safety Rules and relevant EH&S legislation

What you will bring to the role

• Practical experience working to safety procedures in an industrial environment
• Hands-on experience with handheld power tools, workshop machines, and lifting equipment
• Valid forklift truck licence and overhead crane operating licence
• Full driving licence
• Working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER statutory requirements
• IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels

Desirable qualifications include a MEWP Driving Certificate, a recognised site safety qualification, or a CISRS Scaffolding Labourer card.

Location

This is an on-site role based at Ffestiniog Power Station. You may be required to work across other FHC sites as operational needs arise.
