British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a PRODUCT UI/UX DESIGNER in London

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?

This position is within the New Categories R&D Department and reports to the Head of Device UX Design within the Design organisation, led by the Group Head of Design.

As a Product UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for crafting visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces for our small smart electronic devices. You will translate user needs and business requirements into sophisticated, user-friendly interface designs that enhance the overall user experience.

The job holder will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for implementing device UI solutions, working collaboratively with industrial design, brand, insights, and R&D teams involved in new product development.

Key objectives include:

• Driving the evolution of graphic user interface and interaction design for connected and non-connected Heated Product and Vapour devices.
• Collaborating on information architecture and Userflows for display and LED-based interfaces.
• Ensuring consistency in visual design language and brand identity across all UI elements.
• Engaging with industrial design, R&D hardware and software teams to implement proposals effectively.
• Applying knowledge of user experience within the context of Industrial Design.
• Staying updated on industry trends and best practices in UI/UX design, incorporating innovative tools and techniques.

Key success factors include:

• Understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Proficiency in concept generation, visualization, and rapid prototyping tools like Figma, Protopie, Adobe Suite.
• Strong visual design skills with attention to detail and aesthetics.
• Ability to manage multiple projects from concept to deployment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for creating exceptional user experiences.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing physical and digital UI for small electronic devices aligned with project and brand guidelines.
• Developing iconography, visual, auditory, and haptic elements for various device interfaces.
• Creating wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to communicate design concepts.
• Supporting user research, usability testing, and iterating designs based on feedback.
• Collaborating with firmware developers to ensure feasible implementation.
• Updating partners on project progress and aligning with business needs.
• Engaging with cross-disciplinary teams across the development process.

What are we looking for?

Experience Required

• Proven UX/UI design experience, especially for digital electronic products.
• Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Protopie or similar.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating visually appealing, user-friendly designs.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, and product managers.
• Knowledge of user-centered design, usability testing, and accessibility standards.

Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required

• Ability to build positive relationships and engage teams effectively.
• Good project management skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required

• Bachelor's degree in interaction design, graphic design, or related field.
