Product Technologist, sustainable consumer brand

A successful brand, driving sustainability and innovation within their product category, is seeking a Product Technologist to join their team.

In this role, you will collaborate with their global vendor base throughout the production process, manage product testing, liaise with global retail customers regarding own-label product requirements, and work closely with the NPD team to identify opportunities and risks for new products and concepts. You will also contribute to the company's sustainability initiatives by assessing and enhancing the eco credentials of products and materials.

Duties will include:

  1. Collaborating with global vendors on compliance, testing, and QC issues, ensuring critical path dates are met.
  2. Managing and maintaining technical files and compliance databases for both own-label and main range products.
  3. Engaging with the NPD team during early development stages to perform risk assessments, identify opportunities, and address potential compliance issues through testing plans.
  4. Overseeing the testing process for new products to ensure compliance with legislation in target markets.
  5. Producing and updating data and certification documentation for retail own-label products and managing customer portals.
  6. Tracking, managing, and resolving quality or testing issues effectively.
  7. Ensuring packaging and technical artwork meet compliance standards.
  8. Staying informed about developments in compliance, serving as an expert in the field.

Skills & experience required:

  • Experience as a Product Technologist or in Quality Assurance within a wholesale consumer product company.
  • Experience working with global vendors and testing laboratories.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels.
  • Highly analytical, deadline-oriented, and detail-focused.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in IT, especially Excel.
  • Proactive team player with a positive attitude.
