Job summary

Edwards Vacuum in Bristol, United Kingdom, is seeking a Product Sustaining Engineer (TMS) to own Thermal Management Solutions products throughout their lifecycle, delivering reliability and cost effectiveness. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and report to Sustaining Team Manager - TMS.

You will apply 3-5 years of experience in product development or sustaining engineering, leverage CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo), read electrical schematics, and drive engineering changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years experience in product development, sustaining engineering, or related technical environment.
  • Experience supporting commercially released products and managing engineering changes.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and ability to create/read drawings.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with thermal management systems advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Your role

As a Product Sustaining Engineer (TMS), your mission is to provide ongoing support, maintenance, improvement, and lifecycle management of Thermal Management Solutions (TMS) products following release to production. You will report to the Sustaining Team Manager - TMS.

  • Own assigned TMS product lines throughout their lifecycle, ensuring products remain reliable, competitive, manufacturable, and cost effective.
  • Lead product improvements, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, performance, and customer value.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues arising from manufacturing, suppliers, field service, and customers, driving robust root cause and corrective action solutions.
  • Develop innovative mechanical and electromechanical solutions for thermal management applications, including heated pipes, hoses, equipment, and associated assemblies.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and engineering teams to deliver customer-focused solutions and support business growth.
To succeed, you will need

You have 3 - 5 years of experience, working in product development, sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Strong experience supporting commercially released products and managing engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar, alongside the ability to create and interpret details engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with thermal management systems, heating systems, fluid control systems, sensors, or similar industrial equipment would be adventageous.
  • Familiarity with software configurations, control systems, reliability improvement, and manufacturing process is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Edwards facility in Bristol, United Kingdom (GB). You will work closely with cross-functional teams while benefitting from the flexibility of hybrid working.
