Job summary

A leading engineering company in Cheltenham is seeking a Product Support Engineer to manage and support engineering activities related to product design and the UK Supply portfolio. The successful candidate will own design activities and manage cross-functional projects. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electronic engineering is required, with experience in project management and design engineering being essential. Product Support Engineer

Location: Cheltenham, UK

Role Overview

To manage & support engineering activities relating to product design and management of the UK Supply portfolio of mechanical / electronic type products.

Objectives & Responsibilities
  • Independent management of assigned electronic / metering bias projects & tasks using the relevant processes
  • Creation and management of project plans
  • Creation and management of cross-functional project teams
  • Management of project stakeholders
  • Ownership of design engineering activities such as CAD design, calculations, analysis etc.
  • Reviewing work content done by colleagues and providing guidance
  • Supporting the development of the skills and knowledge of the whole department
  • Support product related compliance activities such as CRN, ASME , UL or PED reviews
  • Creation, management and support of PLM activities such as engineering change, samples, concessions etc.

  • Bachelor’s degree of an Mechanical / Electronic engineering discipline, or relevant experience.
  • An understanding of design and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of CRN, ASME and PED requirements.
  • Knowledge of flow meters, controls and instrumentation.
  • Proficient use of MS office package including (but not limited to) Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Use of CREO Modelling and Annotation.
  • Knowledge of how to apply relevant calculations (according to ASME, BS, ISO etc.) correctly to validate products.

  • Experience presenting deliverables to high-level stakeholders.
  • Experience of working on design and specification of electronic circuit boards and components with manufacturing and test suitability including obsolescence management.
  • Understanding of steam systems design and applications, including the Spirax-Sarco electonics product portfolio.
  • Professional registration with an engineering body (i.e. IEng, CEng).
  • Familiarity with micro-controller applications.
