The Role

Are you ready to bring your toxicology expertise to a global FMCG leader known for innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence? At Imperial Brands, we’re looking for a passionate, self-driven and detail oriented Product Stewardship Toxicologist to join our forward-thinking team.

In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert guidance on the safety and regulatory assessment of ingredients and materials across our diverse product portfolio—including both combustible and next-generation products (NGPs). You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of toxicological evaluation by leading and evolving our Product Stewardship Testing Programme.

Join a company backed by over 25,000 colleagues worldwide, where your insights will directly influence product development, consumer safety, and regulatory strategy.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Be a Trusted Expert in Toxicology: Serve as a key advisor, delivering high-level toxicological insights that directly influence product safety and innovation.
  • Lead High-Impact Projects: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for toxicology and risk assessment across major initiatives.
  • Shape the Future of Risk Assessment: Design and refine advanced toxicological and exposure models that meet internal and regulatory standards, supporting rapid and cost-effective decision-making.
  • Safeguard Consumer Health: Provide expert input on health-related consumer complaints and ensure compliance with EU safety directives to protect public health and brand integrity.
  • Drive Scientific Excellence and Compliance: Oversee technical reporting, maintain toxicological databases, and help the business stay ahead of evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Represent and Grow Professionally: Represent Imperial Brands externally in relevant industry groups and scientific conferences/meetings and write external publications or critiques.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Advanced Expertise: Hold a post-graduate qualification (or equivalent) in Toxicology, ready to apply your academic knowledge in a high-impact role.
  • Real-World Experience: Bring your background from commercial, industrial, or regulatory environments to influence product safety and innovation.
  • Professional Recognition: EU Registered Toxicologist status (or equivalent) preferred—demonstrate your credibility and leadership in the field.
  • Scientific Insight: Confidently review and critique scientific literature, contextualising developments to guide business and regulatory decisions.
  • Clear Communicator: Translate complex science into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences—from senior leaders to industry peers.
  • Collaborative & Driven: Thrive both independently and in teams, with strong influencing skills, digital fluency, and a calm, logical approach under pressure.

What We Offer

In return for playing your part in building our future, you will receive a comprehensive compensation package with salary, bonus scheme and further benefits as well inspiring places to work and collaborate with purpose. Here at Imperial we will give you the opportunity to grow and learn, innovate at pace and be a part of our purpose to forge a path to a healthier future for moments of relaxation and pleasure for our consumers.
