The Opportunity:
Product Specialist - Capital Equipment & Instrumentation
Avantor is seeking a Product Specialist - Capital Equipment & Instrumentation to be responsible for increasing revenue and profit with the final objective of achieving EBITDA targets as set, supporting the strategic partner accounts in achieving sales & margin targets for Avantor UK Laboratory equipment & instrumentation business.
Key Tasks
- Consistently achieve IOP for sales and margin in our capital equipment, instruments and technical servicing portfolio
- Collaborate with strategic partner team to determine technical specifications
- Provide technical product support to customers and Avantor colleagues
- Create, negotiate and follow up quotation
- Focus on large projects consisting of multiple products and quantities to ensure best in class project support.
- Construct technical quotations
- Coordinating to ensure the internal product codes are correct and loaded accordingly
- Support with technical specifications for tender submissions
- Support with market source equipment quotes
- Ensure that ZPSP’s are loaded into the system and best buying price is achieved by Avantor
- Collaborate with strategic partner team if customer interaction is required
- Engage in supplier training to ensure technical knowledge is developed.
- Monitor competitors and market trends within dedicated product portfolios and build market intelligence
- Support your manager in developing a sales forecast for your portfolio of products as and when required
- Updating all relevant customer interactions on our CRM system C4C
- Regular communication with the local sales organisation, highlighting the performance of the product portfolio
- Participation in local sales training and meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Science degree preferred but not essential
- Previous external/internal sales experience preferred but not essential
- Proven track record in achieving targets desirable but not essential
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Good product knowledge, ability to learn quickly and maintains updated knowledge of products and market
- Self motivated, focused & driven individual who can handle rejection positively
- Strong negotiations skills
- Strong commercial understanding and knowledge of the market, the competition within, pricing and discount structures
- Passion in liaising with internal and external customers, suppliers and manufacturers
- Understanding of procurement, both strategically and operationally, sourcing, market analysis, cost analysis, contract negotiation and supplier performance level service agreements/performance metrics
- Keen awareness of profitability metrics and steps to maximise same
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking capabilities
- Self starter, proactive individual, works on own initiative with minimal supervision
- Confident in own decision making abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player, can deputise for colleagues when required
- IT Literate, proficient in the use of C4C CRM, Qlikview, and MS Office applications, Excel in particular
