Job description

Camlin is a global technology leader that operates with the vision of bringing revolutionary products to life for a wide range of industries, including power and rail, and also has interests in a number of R&D projects in a variety of scientific sectors.

At Camlin we believe in high quality engineering and design, allowing us to develop market leading products and services. In short, we love creating value for our customers by solving difficult problems. As of now, Camlin operates in over 20 countries worldwide.

What to expect day to day:

As a key member of the Applied Sciences team at Camlin, the Product Performance Engineer will lead the transformation of our advanced field support function — from reactive troubleshooting to proactive product intelligence. This role is central to ensuring the reliability and performance of our intelligent asset monitoring systems across a global installed base.

You will combine deep technical knowledge of our sensing technologies with strong data analysis capabilities to detect emerging issues, support scalable root cause analysis, and generate actionable insights that drive product improvement and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead advanced investigations into field issues, performing root cause analysis and systemic diagnostics across product fleets.
  • Translate sensor behaviours and system anomalies into quantifiable performance indicators and predictive insights.
  • Collaborate with our Data Solutions team to structure, analyse, and visualise telemetry data from global deployments.
  • Support the development and maintenance of scalable frameworks for field performance monitoring, including data pipelines, dashboards, and alerting systems.
  • Act as a technical bridge between Applied Sciences, Engineering, and Customer Services to embed product insights into operational workflows.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven reports and presentations to internal stakeholders, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of internal best practices for product commissioning, diagnostics, and support.

Field Support

  • Provide high-value, advanced technical support for complex field issues.
  • Lead occasional on-site investigations when remote diagnostics are insufficient to support critical root cause analysis.
  • A Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Data Sciences, or related field.

or

A Bachelor's degree combined with substantial, demonstratable industry experience equivalent to postgraduate level.

  • Experience with complex electromechanical or sensing systems.
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar) for data analysis and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Willingness to travel globally for technical investigations when required.
  • Knowledge of spectroscopy and/or gas sensing technologies.
  • Familiarity with telemetry systems, time-series databases, and diagnostic signal processing.
  • Exposure to predictive maintenance or machine learning concepts.
  • Experience with industrial monitoring systems (e.g., HV asset monitoring).
  • Experience using data visualisation and business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Grafana) to analyse and present complex data in a clear and actionable format.
