Product Owner - Internal CRM Team

Hybrid in London (3-days in-office per week)

We're hiring a Product Owner to join iwoca's internal CRM team.

You'll drive improvements to the platform behind iwoca's account management, credit analytics, and collections processes. Collaborating with engineers and stakeholders, you'll deliver features that help teams work faster, support customers better, and scale effectively. You'll lead key projects improving backend systems, communication, and product launches - shaping how we support thousands of businesses daily.

The company

Imagine a world where every small business has the power to thrive. That's the world we're building at iwoca. Small businesses aren't just statistics - they're the heartbeat of our communities, the character of our high streets, and the engine of our economy. Since 2012, we've revolutionized how these businesses access finance, turning what was once a lengthy, frustrating process into something remarkable: funding that's fast, flexible, and actually works for modern businesses.

Our impact speaks for itself: we've provided billions in funding to over 150,000 businesses across Europe, making us one of the continent's leading fintech innovators. But we're just getting started. Our mission? To empower one million businesses with the financial tools they deserve.

We combine cutting-edge technology and data science with genuine human understanding to make finance feel less like a barrier and more like a superpower. Whether it's managing cash flow or seizing unexpected opportunities, we ensure businesses get the funds they need - often within minutes.

The team

The CRM team, known internally as Backyard Gardeners (BYG), builds and owns iwoca's proprietary platform, the central system behind our account management, credit analytics, and collections. Used daily by hundreds of super-users, it's one of the most sophisticated tools in the business, with a direct impact on how we scale, serve customers, and drive long-term profitability. You will work with a group of visionary back-end and front-end engineers committed to creating and enhancing the tools that empower our operational teams to deliver the exceptional service that sets us apart.

The role

Our teams strive to deliver exceptional customer service at every customer interaction, and we need them to have the best tools for their job. As a Product Owner in our CRM team, you will improve and scale the technology that supports this, aligning product development with business goals and user needs.

You'll gather and prioritize roadmap items, working closely with engineers and stakeholders to shape features that help teams move faster, support customers better, and scale as we grow. You'll collaborate with a highly capable technical team to break down complex problems, manage trade-offs, and deliver improvements that make a real difference.

By tracking our use and learning from each release, you'll continuously raise the quality of our tools and the service they enable - giving you direct influence over how we support thousands of businesses every day.

The projects

You'll lead high-impact projects that shape how our teams operate and how customers experience iwoca. Recent and ongoing examples include:

  • Supporting new product launches: Set our Operations teams up for success as we launch new card products, ensuring they have fast access to the right data to deliver exceptional support from day one.
  • Improving customer communication: We aim to answer 90% of calls within 2 minutes, and our tech needs to support that. Lead the optimization of our phone system (built on Twilio), focusing on improving routing logic and developing tools for our operations teams to manage calls effectively.
  • Scaling our backend systems: Guide the evolution of our Django-based backend as we move to microservices, increasing performance and scalability to support our growing customer base.

The requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, in product management, or a technical role.
  • Delivery-focused, with the ability to work autonomously and manage projects end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts to manage trade-offs and evaluate new ideas effectively.
  • Critical thinker with problem-solving skills to challenge assumptions and recommend innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, tailoring style and technical detail to suit different audiences.
  • A team player who balances confidence, humility, and enthusiasm.

Bonus:

  • Experience with card products
  • Familiarity with User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design principles.
  • A strong numerical or technical background.

The salary

We expect to pay from £60,000 - £75,000 for this role. But, we're open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates and run quarterly salary and performance reviews.

The culture

At iwoca, we prioritize a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value diversity in thought and skill, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us improve our products and services.
