About The Role

Motability Operations is the UK’s largest leasing company, supporting over 800,000 customers with worry-free mobility solutions. As we expand our capabilities in connected mobility, we are seeking an experienced Product Owner to help deliver our connected mobility strategy.

This key role involves delivering a range of connected products and services that meet customer expectations, improve process efficiencies, and generate ROI. The successful candidate will manage the product backlog, define user stories, and ensure product alignment with customer needs and business goals.

Acting as a liaison between stakeholders and the development team, you will translate the product vision into a prioritized and actionable backlog that maximizes business value and addresses customer needs, while enabling the delivery team to work efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backlog Management: Oversee and manage the product backlog using prioritization frameworks such as MoSCoW, RICE, Value/Effort, WSJF. Ensure the backlog reflects customer needs, strategic goals, and is continuously refined.
2. User Story Development: Develop clear user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria to guide development.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Product Manager, gather stakeholder input, and communicate the product vision and roadmap.
4. Customer Engagement: Lead customer engagement initiatives to gather insights for product development.
5. Development Team Leadership & Escalation: Provide ongoing leadership, clarify requirements, and support triaging production issues.
6. Agile Ceremonies: Lead sprint planning and review sessions, ensuring work meets acceptance criteria and team readiness.
7. Performance Tracking & Optimization: Manage product KPIs and promote continuous improvement.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with marketing, design, engineering, and QA teams for successful delivery.
9. Market Research: Stay informed on industry trends and competitors to identify innovation opportunities.
10. Communication Facilitation: Ensure effective team communication and impediment resolution.

About You

You have a strong background in product ownership within an Agile environment, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in software development lifecycle management. You are data-driven, understand Agile methodologies, and are passionate about delivering high-quality products that enhance customer experience.

Minimum Criteria

• Experience as a Product Owner or similar role
• Proven experience managing backlogs and developing user stories
• Strong understanding of Agile (Scrum preferred)
• Experience working with data for insights and analysis
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with product management tools (JIRA, Confluence, Miro)
• Understanding of software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of data governance and ethics

• Knowledge of connected cars, telematics, APIs, cloud data solutions
