Job description
About The Role

We’re looking for a commercially aware and mission-driven Product Owner to lead the development of accessible, affordable and confidence-inspiring public charging solutions for disabled customers. As Product Owner – Charging on the Go, you will shape how Motability Operations enables on-the-go EV charging that genuinely works for our community — not just technically, but physically, financially, and experientially.

You will drive strategic partnerships, accessibility data integration, and customer-facing feature development within a multi-disciplinary squad. This is a key role in making sure that the transition to electric is possible for all, regardless of where or how a customer needs to charge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Roadmap & Vision
    • Define and evolve the roadmap for public charging that reflects the physical accessibility, roaming availability, and pricing needs of our customers
    • Lead the product thinking behind how we surface accessibility data, coordinate with charging networks, and shape the Go App experience
    • Translate the strategy into deliverable features, partnerships and journeys — from pricing models to review templates
  • Backlog Ownership & Delivery
    • Own and manage the product backlog, prioritising initiatives that improve access, usability and cost for public charging
    • Create well-formed user stories and acceptance criteria that reflect the lived experience of disabled EV users
    • Guide delivery on initiatives such as CPO data integrations, site accessibility reviews, and app enhancements in collaboration with Electroverse
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with CPOs (Charge Point Operators) to develop scalable and reliable data-sharing models
    • Partner with advocacy groups (e.g. Disabled Motoring UK) and research teams to co-design features and prioritise user pain points
    • Ensure insights from pilots, reviews and on-the-ground accessibility audits feed directly into delivery priorities
  • Agile Team Leadership
    • Lead sprint planning, review and prioritisation in partnership with Scrum Master and squad team
    • Foster a delivery rhythm that builds iteratively toward quarterly and longer-term value outcomes
    • Act as point of escalation for accessibility or regulatory issues within the public charging space
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement
    • Track KPIs including usage of public charging, customer satisfaction, app engagement, and accessibility coverage
    • Drive improvements based on data gathered from site visits, customer feedback, and partner performance
    • Maintain focus on delivering the most impactful charging experience improvements for those with the least flexibility
About You

You are a systems thinker who thrives in a cross-functional environment. You’re energised by the challenge of making complex physical and digital infrastructure work for real people — and you’re motivated by a desire to make transport more equitable, inclusive and customer-first.

Minimum criteria:

  • Experience as a Product Owner OR Product Manager in connected services, mobility, accessibility, or consumer platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships OR integrate third-party data sources/APIs.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards OR inclusive design/UX.
  • Evidence of customer-first thinking, particularly in service equity and inclusion.
  • Skilled in prioritisation and communication, balancing delivery, customer needs, and stakeholder expectations.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience with EV roaming platforms OR CPO APIs (e.g. Electroverse).
  • Knowledge of public sector accessibility regulations or consumer rights in transport
  • Comfort navigating legal and ethical considerations in public infrastructure data collection
