With deep mission expertise, Metrea focuses on delivering effects-as-a-service across Aerospace, Electromagnetic & Cyber, Digital & Synthetic domains via its capability groups. Metrea also consists of six support groups (Operations, People, Finance, Legal, Strategy and Solutions) that guide the development of specific capabilities that Metrea's files (product, projects, programs etc) leverage to achieve their targets.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Product Owner with a strong military aviation background, ideally a former or current flight or tactics/weapon instructor, to lead the development of an advanced air tactical training platform within our simulation product ecosystem. This platform is designed to support military pilot training through ultimate-fidelity, game engine-powered simulators that replicate real-world tactical air operations.

You will act as the central point of contact between instructors (our end users), internal development teams, and key stakeholders to ensure the platform aligns with training needs and operational demands. Your aviation experience will be essential in shaping realistic, effective training scenarios and driving development priorities that reflect actual pilot workflows.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the air tactical training platform.
  • Work closely with military flight instructors and training officers to gather requirements and validate product direction.
  • Translate operational training needs into clear user stories and technical requirements for development teams.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and simulation engineers working in game engine environments (e.g. Unreal Engine).
  • Prioritize features based on training impact, user feedback, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure product alignment with simulation ecosystem architecture, interoperability standards, and defence compliance needs.
  • Drive user testing, acceptance, and feedback sessions with instructors and military stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

  • Military Aviation background is required – military pilot experience is essential with bonus points if you have both 4th and 5th gen aircraft experience.
  • Instructional experience is strongly preferred, particularly in flight or tactical/weapon training contexts.
  • Experience with or strong interest in simulation, training systems, or game-based environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate instructor input into product improvements.
  • Willingness to travel, Metrea is an International organization with offices and stakeholders in the US, UK and Europe.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Experience working with military or government organizations.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with developers and designers.

Our Culture

Metrea’s single core value, “rooted in humility,” is supported by four key attributes: entrepreneurial, systematic, discerning, and over-deliver. These attributes, combined, form our Teammate Firmware, our culture. We explore these attributes during the hiring process when we grow our teams and continually support the growth of our culture. We are a hyper-collaborative, dynamically hierarchical organization united by a passion for what we do, how we do it, who we do it with, and who we do it for.
