As a Product Owner, you will work across multidisciplinary teams in an agile and user centric way and have responsibility for the quality of the products developed, ensuring our products and services better meet the needs of users and the organisation. The post holder will own the design and iteration of the product and support delivery teams with knowledge of user needs and business goals to define scopes and priorities and solve problems for our users and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Accountability for the successful delivery of user centred products, including owning the product vision and roadmap from inception through to delivery of the product(s) covering all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Effectively manage competing priorities, adapting products and services where needed to meet both internal and end users needs, ensuring your product team builds the right things at the right time to maximise user and business value. Work with internal and external customers to analyse the needs and align the product roadmap to strategic goals.
- Use product management principles and approaches to capture and translate user needs into deliverable outcomes for end users. Define the minimum viable product and define, agree and amend priorities where appropriate and be responsible for acceptance criteria.
- Monitor service quality and set appropriate KPIs in collaboration with interested parties and communicate the achievement and performance of your product to stakeholders. Use qualitative and quantitative data to prioritise work and iteratively plan near and longer-term activities for your team.
- Work closely with operational delivery teams to overcome constraints and deliver a successful product or service. Ensure the product meets the needs of operational teams as well as end users throughout the product life cycle, implementing best practice in new product or service development.
- Lead and/or support the securing of funding for agile delivery through a business case and delivering pitches to internal and external stakeholders. Prioritise spending based on ROI and strategic intent; this may include contract ownership and accountability for realisation of benefits.
- Communicate constraints to manage expectations with colleagues in policy, operations, technology as well as regulatory, financial and legal colleagues.
- Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and as the primary contact for queries related to the product.
- Actively engage in user research sessions to obtain first-hand feedback and take a data-driven approach to prioritisation.
- Contribute to the Product Owner Community to promote knowledge sharing and professional development. Ensure product and service teams understand cross-team work to enable synergies.
- Support and lead with identification of development and digitisation initiatives to promote and improve NHSBSA services.
- Develop strong networks across stakeholder organisations and within NHSBSA to promote integration of digital improvement activity; use problem-solving techniques to prioritise issues and opportunities.
- Ensure products are delivered in line with NHSBSA approaches and values, governance frameworks, and report on process, priorities, risks and solutions. Gather user feedback and inform ongoing improvements.
- Engage with Service Owners and leadership to deliver on priorities and participate in engagement with stakeholders to assess what is possible through product delivery, ensuring alignment with NHSBSA strategy.
- Manage delegated budgets as required, with responsibility for day-to-day finance work for the project.
- Share learning and celebrate progress within the government product owner community.
- Ensure outputs comply with DHSC and NHSBSA policies, and statutory UK legislation and directives.
- Be accountable for personal development to meet current and future needs.
- Deal with highly complex and sensitive information, influencing Senior Leaders and stakeholders on difficult issues.
