ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• University Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or Lawyer.

• At least 5 years of previous experience in Project Finance and/or Corporate Loans structuring or Portfolio Monitoring.

Overview

About the area

The Portfolio Monitoring Energy and Utilities unit is integrated in the Corporate and Investment Banking Area, and manages a portfolio of almost 300 project finance (with and without ECA coverage) and corporate loan transactions, with assets located in EMEA, Asia, USA and LATAM.

We get involved from the early stages of structuring, and once signed, we manage any and all events relative to the transaction (amendments, waivers, etc.) during the whole deal lifecycle.

We are also in charge of the risk rating review process of Project Finance transactions (PD and LGD reviews), thus having a proactive monitoring approach. We also manage a number of agencies (national and international deals), and therefore there is a direct contact with the clients and advisors.
The team is also part of the Energy Vertical, a knowledge and business hub within the Corporate and Investment Banking area focused on fostering a key industry for BBVA such us the Energy sector, a critical component of BBVA ESG strategy.


About the job

The candidate will be responsible for the management and monitoring of a Project Finance and Corporate Loans portfolio with assets in EMEA, Asia, USA and LATAM.

Main tasks include:

• Support the structuring teams in all monitoring related covenants during the origination process;
• Autonomous management of lenders’ requests ( amendments and waivers) with Clients, Banks, Risk, Internal and external Advisors and BBVA’s units and update of the internal tools that may be required;
• Covenants and events’ monitoring using the appropriate internal tools, and update of such tools;
• Management of ingoing and outgoing documentation regarding loans when BBVA is agent bank;
• Management of the loan portfolio from a fund manager point of view, providing a sectorial approach in order to anticipate business opportunities and credit or insolvency risks;
• Provide industry insights to the Energy Vertical;
• Support the optimization of RWA’s and the decrease of capital consumption;
• Support the technological platform development and improvement.
