6 month contract opportunity - £750 outside IR35 - Workbench - Insurance

We are partnered with a Global Insurance Consultancy seeking a strategic and technically savvy Product Manager. You will lead the modernization of underwriting capabilities across Specialty Lines through delivering an intelligent Underwriting Workstation, transforming the underwriting experience by enhancing speed, consistency, and insight via integrated tools, data, and workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the Underwriting Workstation across lines such as E&S, Marine, Cyber, and Professional Liability.
  • Define and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and success metrics aligned with underwriting strategy and business outcomes.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on business value, underwriting needs, and user feedback.
User-Centric Design & Innovation
  • Partner with underwriting teams to understand pain points, needs, and decision-making processes.
  • Translate insights into modern user experiences that streamline submission intake, triage, appetite assessment, and risk evaluation.
  • Embed automation, rules engines, and AI models to enhance productivity and decision support.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, data science, and platform teams to build, launch, and scale capabilities.
  • Serve as the liaison between business and technology, managing backlog grooming, release planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Work with compliance, legal, and security teams to ensure features meet regulatory and risk standards.
Value Delivery & Performance Monitoring
  • Establish KPIs such as cycle time reduction, user adoption, straight-through processing, and quote-to-bind rates.
  • Use data to inform product decisions, identify underperformance, and iterate capabilities.
  • Maintain feedback loops with users to refine the product post-launch.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU) a plus.
  • 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in P&C insurance or InsurTech.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting processes and specialty lines.
  • Experience delivering digital tools, workflow platforms, or data-enabled solutions.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools like Jira, Aha!.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Appian, ServiceNow) or PAS integrations (e.g., Guidewire).
  • Knowledge of decision engines, rules management, and third-party data integration.
  • Success in driving digital adoption within underwriting or insurance contexts.
