Job summary

Bupa UK is seeking a Product Manager within Product Engineering & Simplification. Location options include Bupa Place, Salford Quays or Willow House, Staines. This fixed-term contract (12 months) offers 37.5 hours per week with a salary from £58,700 depending on experience and location.

The role involves supporting the senior PM, representing engineering in project activities, and shaping governance documents while embracing flexible working patterns.

Qualifications

• Product management experience in Private Medical Insurance or related Financial Services sector.
• Knowledge of Bupa PMI consumer or corporate portfolios is ideal.
• Experience with fair value assessments and product reviews.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior product manager with delivery of preventive pathways and simplification strategy.
• Represent product engineering in project meetings with PD&D, change, clinics or other involved functions.
• Support creation and review of governance packs before POGF, POGC, UPCO and JPPC.
• Assist in designing and delivering engineering projects prioritised on the road map.
• Lead creation and approval of assets for assigned projects.
• Support market and customer research that informs governance forums like POGF.

Product Manager - Product Engineering & Simplification (C16)

Location: Bupa Place, Salford Quays or Willow House, Staines

Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months

Salary: From £58,700 dependant on experience and location

Full time: 37.5 Hours per week

This role will contribute and support Product Engineering’s role in ideation, product development, build and testing aligned to the product strategy.

This Role Will

• Support the senior product manager with the delivery of preventive pathways, cross segment or cross product proposition development/design, transformation and/or simplification strategy (as assigned)
• Represent product engineering on project meetings, liaising with PD&D, change, clinics or any other business function involved in the product development or build
• Support the creation and review of governance packs prior to POGF, POGC, UPCO and JPPC

You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By

• Support the senior product manager with the design and delivery of engineering projects as assigned and as prioritised on the road map
• Represent the engineering team in adherence to the product development framework
• Lead the creation and approval of assets relating to your assigned projects
• Support the briefing, commissioning and outputs from market and customer research linked to your assigned projects that feed in and support governance forums such as POGF
• Understand and articulate how the engineering team fit into the wider health and dental team
• Understand how current pipeline delivery supports the wider product strategy and ambition
• Maintain and promote a culture of good risk and control management, ensuring good customer and regulatory outcomes.
• Support the assessment of new opportunities into the team through effective triaging.

Key Skills Needed For This Role

• Product management experience, ideally within the Private Medical Insurance industry or alternatively within the General Insurance industry or the Financial Services industry
• Ideally good knowledge of Bupa’s consumer or corporate PMI products and portfolios
• Experience in managing or supporting fair value assessments and product reviews.
• Experience in the definition and management of product improvement plans
• Experience in managing or supporting the review of Terms and Conditions
• Some experience or exposure to risk and incident management
• Some experience in cross-functional impact assessment
• Some experience or exposure to developing and designing new strategies / operational plans to maximise business opportunities.
• Some familiarity with project management
• Understanding of the proposition development processes and a good working knowledge of change/transformation processes and governance.
