What You’ll Do

  1. Develop and execute the European Large & Small Engine Oil additive product, price, promotion, and place strategy.
  2. Become a subject matter expert in relevant market segments including Marine, Stationary Gas, Motorcycle, Power Tool & Recreational applications.
  3. Liaise with customers and OEMs in collaboration with our account management teams to develop partnerships, determine product approaches, and pricing strategies.
  4. Drive business growth through the creation and implementation of insights-based market development and penetration strategies.
  5. Collaborate with other Product Managers, Strategic Marketing, and a wide stakeholder network to develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to guide product development and positioning.
  6. Liaise with base oil manufacturers to gather insights and determine appropriate future product line coverage.
  7. Ensure effective marketing communications plans are developed and delivered by the marketing team for your assigned portfolio.
  8. Pursue product line commercial excellence.
  9. Actively manage all stages of product lifecycle through introduction, growth, maturity, decline, and obsolescence.
  10. Ensure volume forecasts are consistent with market trends.
  11. Develop pricing strategies that optimize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Monitor product margins.
  12. Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize the customer value proposition to capture market share.
  13. Provide inputs for the annual profit plan targets setting (volume, revenue, margin) and lead its execution.
  14. Work closely with technology to commercialize new products and provide ongoing product support.
  15. Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain to manage asset and operational decisions in support of product lines.
  16. Collaborate with sales teams to provide training and resources to effectively sell the product line.
  17. Develop market advocacy strategy, determine key market messages, and coordinate with other regions as necessary.

What We’re Looking For

A strong product manager should be a well-rounded individual with a combination of technical, market, and business skills, as well as strong communication and leadership abilities.

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline. Candidates with an MBA are desirable.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of prior experience in a combination of Sales, Marketing, Technology Deployment, or Product Management roles. Experience within the specialty chemicals industry or industrial lubricants is considered a plus.
  3. Business Acumen: Good understanding of the financial aspects of the product line, including pricing, margins, and profitability. Ability to make sound business decisions based on financial analysis.
  4. Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, sales, and marketing.
  5. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of stakeholders, including customers, internal teams, and senior leadership.
  6. Market Understanding: Strong understanding of the relevant markets, including customer needs, competitor analysis, and market trends.
  7. Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of the technical aspects of the products, including chemical composition, applications, and manufacturing processes.
  8. Strong organizational skills: Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects. Capable of independent action, takes initiative.
