Job summary

Tesco UK in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a data‑driven Product Manager to own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of analytics products. You will shape strategy, roadmaps and delivery across store operations, partnering with analytics, engineering and business leaders.

You will lead MVP discovery, ensure data quality, and translate complex data into actionable insights for colleagues and leadership, enabling measurable store improvements.

We're looking for a talented Product Manager to join our team and help shape the future of data-driven store operations.

In this role, you'll work to find ways to present the most important operational insights, opportunities and actions to store colleagues and leadership. From early discovery through to strategy, delivery, and large-scale rollout, you'll own the end-to-end product lifecycle. Your work will directly impact colleague experience and operational efficiency across the organisation. You'll be at the heart of enabling store colleagues to act with confidence, clarity and consistency, producing savings to invest in future store innovations.

You will be responsible for

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role's key responsibilities

  • Formulating the vision, strategy and roadmap for building analytics capabilities across the data & analytics portfolio, and work with others in aligning the strategic priorities, dependencies and roadmap across the data & analytics product portfolio.
  • Planning and coordinating Analytical Products that have dependencies on multiple product and engineering teams.
  • Leading discovery work around a minimum viable product (MVP) for any new Analytical Products, collaborating with analysts and engineering teams to prototype and validate a MVP.
  • Ensuring data quality and integrity by working with the data supply and demand team.
  • Helping the team in breaking down a complex piece of work/ epic into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered faster.
  • Providing leadership and direction to cross-functional team(s) on short-term tasks/near-term priorities.
  • Empowering teams across Tesco to use Analytics environment to get the most of performance reviews and business insights.
You will need
  • An understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices and practicalities to help resolve delivery challenges.
  • Knowledge of using Analytics systems and databases such as Teradata, Hadoop and other SQL or NoSQL technologies.
  • Knowledge of using business intelligence and visualisation tools.
  • Expertise in using Tools & Techniques for Backlog prioritisation, managing dependencies and gaining insights using available data points.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the technologies relevant to data platforms.
  • Experience creating outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong decision making and prioritisation skills, especially when multiple trade-offs are involved and faster decisions are required.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories/ acceptance criteria.
  • An interest in AI and curiosity about how it can be used innovatively to help colleagues use data and provide new product capabilities.
Preferred Background:
  • Min 2 years of Product management experience.
  • Having proven success in working on unstructured problems, defining hypothesis, creating MVPs, running experiments and analysing results to drive data-driven decisions.
  • Experience working with distributed, global teams and coordinating across multiple stakeholders, landing large-scale change in an Enterprise environment
  • Experience creating an impact with data and analytics.
  • Prioritisation and decision-making skills demonstrating how these have taken into account business priorities, complexity, dependencies and value
