Role Overview:

The role of the Product Manager is to manage specific products within the Bupa Health Clinics product portfolio. They will need to be the expert on product, market and competitor performance within the product portfolio, using a combination of internal (price, product, promotion and place) and external (customer needs, legislation, economic climate and competition) data to manage and develop Bupa’s products in the UK marketplace, across the products’ lifecycle and all customer segments, with specific focus on addressing incidents within the current portfolio to ensure products continue to meet customer needs and to eliminate customer detriment.

The Product Manager will also have responsibility for integrating these products into the wider Bupa portfolio of products and services in order to make more holistic and more compelling propositions. This product manager will also play an indirect role in the delivery of the portfolio’s business objectives for the product suite as described in the three year plan and AOP

What you’ll do:

  • Help to own the product suite strategy, leading new and existing product development.
  • Manage all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Manage product governance activities including annual product reviews.
  • Measure and monitor performance and implement appropriate remedial action.
  • Be the primary contact for all aspects of external and internal product enquiries.
  • Plan and lead delivery of product related initiatives via cross functional teams
  • Work closely with wide ranging stakeholders across the business including pricing, finance, legal and compliance, operations, Change, IT and marketing.
  • Maintain continual contact with front-line areas to help train, educate, inform, keep up-to-date and to obtain feedback that can be used to shape future products and propositions.

Qualifications, Training & Experience required:

  • Educated to degree level standard
  • Strong and broad commercial awareness and experience of managing products in large organisations
  • Able to inspire and deliver innovative solutions through cross-functional teams
  • Qualifications and experience in major aspects of the marketing mix, particularly product and service design, both B2B and B2C
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively and commercially
  • Experience of managing products in a regulatory environment
  • Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with emphasis in achieving results and successful outcomes
  • Clear understanding and awareness of the marketplace and competitors
  • Evidence of having led high performing teams and/or individuals
  • Experience of programme and project management to ensure effective delivery within time, cost and quality of complex projects
  • Ability to quickly understand internal processes, and how to influence at a senior level
  • Understanding of the proposition development processes and a good working knowledge of Change/Transformation processes and governance, and supporting documentation
  • Product marketing experience, ideally in the health and wellbeing industry or financial services
