Job description

Term type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £55,000

Department: Business Services

About the Role

This role sits within a cross‑functional team focused on developing innovative solutions that improve how colleagues deliver legal services and enable better client outcomes, aligned with our strategy ‘Empowering clients and colleagues to achieve their next level’.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, legal practitioners, technical teams, clients and third‑party vendors, helping to shape and deliver initiatives and product features grounded in clear business needs, high‑quality user experience, and measurable value. The role partners closely with engineering, design, data and delivery colleagues to ensure solutions are feasible, usable, valuable and adopted.

Responsibilities
  • Define product vision and strategy, creating clear product narratives for leadership and linking product decisions to firm‑level strategic priorities
  • Own and shape the product roadmap
  • Define and maintain clear product outcomes, success measures and leading indicators, ensuring roadmap decisions are linked to measurable client, colleague and business value
  • Lead a cross‑functional squad throughout the full product lifecycle, aligning product, engineering, design and data around a clear mission and measurable outcomes
  • Act as a primary liaison between business stakeholders, legal practitioners, clients and technical teams, ensuring decisions are grounded in user evidence, business value and product strategy rather than individual requests or assumptions
  • Communicate progress, learnings and opportunities clearly to stakeholders, managing expectations and surfacing new product ideas
  • Ensure alignment between business needs, technical requirements and evidence from discovery, analytics and feedback, and the product roadmap to prioritise the squad’s backlog
  • Provide light project‑management oversight including milestone tracking, risk identification, delivery reporting and cross‑team coordination
  • Lead workshops, interviews and discovery sessions with lawyers, operational and technical teams
  • Analyse existing legal workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, accuracy and client value
  • Frame opportunities as clear problem statements, hypotheses and desired outcomes before progressing to solution design or delivery
  • Champion accessible communication of complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
  • Lead service‑design‑oriented exercises such as journey mapping, value stream mapping, and UX review sessions to support continuous improvement
  • Evaluate and improve user journeys, workflows and interaction patterns across software and tools
  • Engage with internal legal teams to validate requirements, risks and edge cases
  • Lead assessment of vendor tools, pilots, testing and feedback cycles
  • Champion a product mindset by cultivating curiosity and using data‑driven insights
  • Refine and maintain a well‑structured backlog aligned with product strategy and product roadmap
  • Support iterative delivery cycles, ensuring clarity of requirements and removing ambiguity for the development team
  • Support documentation of risks, mitigations and model performance indicators
  • Monitor regulatory or organisational constraints that may impact sprint scope or prioritisation
  • Maintain clear documentation of objectives, roadmaps, metrics and deliverables
  • Translate validated business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps and supporting documentation
  • Support estimation processes and sprint‑level planning activities with the development team, providing priority, acceptance criteria and input into sequencing and trade-offs
  • Support Agile best practice, fostering psychological safety, transparency and team efficiency
  • Coordinate multi‑team delivery dependencies, ensuring timelines are aligned across internal and external contributors
Qualifications & Experience
  • A track record as a Product Manager in a digital, technology, client‑facing or professional services environment with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong understanding of process improvement, workflow optimisation and business process re‑engineering
  • Experience working in regulated environments or with legal workflows
  • A product‑focused, problem‑solving mindset with the ability to challenge convention
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into simple, clear language
  • Passion for promoting a product mindset, connecting technical work to human impact and making product value visible through storytelling and data
  • Confidence and facilitation skills to lead workshops and discovery activities, and to support the evaluation of vendor products
  • Experience using product analytics, user research, feedback and operational data to inform discovery, prioritisation, roadmap decisions and post‑release iteration
  • Confidence to make evidence‑based prioritisation decisions in ambiguous environments, clearly explaining trade‑offs and the rationale for what will not be built as well as what will be built
Benefits
  • Long Service holiday award – 1 extra week every 10 years continuous service
  • Private Healthcare with BUPA (offered after probation is passed)
  • Staff Profit Share and Individual Performance Bonus Scheme
  • Salary sacrifice (Pensions, Staff Profit Share)
  • Life Assurance - 4 × salary / Permanent Health Insurance
