Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

Reporting into the Divisional Sales and Strategy Director, this role will be focused within our Metering team. You’ll join the leading provider of metering services and data collection in the UK energy retail sector, we provide efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters.

Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to make sure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.

What will you be doing?

As the Product Manager (Metering) you will lead the strategic development and delivery of metering solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer needs. You will own the product lifecycle, from concept to implementation, focusing on innovation, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in the energy, utility or metering markets.

• Understand User Needs: Deeply analyse customer pain points and translate them into actionable requirements.
• Strategic Vision: Define the product's roadmap and align it with the company’s overall business objectives.
• Cross-team Collaboration: Act as a bridge between stakeholders like developers, marketers, designers, and leadership teams.
• Prioritisation: Balance new features, technical debt, and market demands to deliver value effectively.
• Performance Metrics: Monitor the product’s success through KPIs like user engagement, revenue growth, or customer satisfaction.
  
  

You will be the driving force behind the success of each new product you manage.

What You’ll Bring

• Established experience in product management, ideally within energy, utilities or metering.
• Proven track record of delivering metering or IoT solutions from concept to completion.
• Deep understanding of the metering domain, including smart meters, traditional meters, and IoT integration.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Ofgem (for the UK) and industry standards.
• Knowledge of metering technologies, protocols (e.g., Zigbee, LoRaWAN), and data analytics.
• Ability to work with data visualisation tools to track product performance.
• Knowledge of data security and GDPR compliance, especially for metering solutions
  
  

Although not essential, the following would be great:

• Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certifications
• PRINCE2 or PMP (for project management knowledge)
• Industry-specific certifications like Meter Operation Code of Practice (MOCOPA) or related metering standards.
