The AMS Practice manages, enhances, and maintains custom applications or packaged software by integrating AI, smart automation and robotics. Utilising Agile and DevOps methodologies, we drive continuous delivery and deployment. Our comprehensive approach to application development, management, and testing adds significant business and IT value to our clients.

What will you be doing:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a rich combination of GDS product management experience and skills, soft skills and appropriate personal attributes. We are looking for someone who thrives in complex environments, has strong delivery focus, and is confident influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Lead the end-to-end delivery of digital products, from discovery through to live service and retirement.

Define and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap aligned with user needs and policy goals.

Set delivery priorities based on user needs, business objectives, and ongoing feedback.

Engage regularly with users, stakeholders, delivery teams, and senior leaders to ensure alignment and shared understanding.

Champion user-centred design, agile practices, and continuous iteration to improve product quality.

Ensure products meet government service standards, accessibility requirements, and deliver measurable value.

Define and monitor success metrics (KPIs/outcomes), reporting progress and impact.

Mentor and manage product team members, contributing to community learning and capability building.

Skills we can’t do without:

  • Agile Methodology and User-Centred Design: Proven experience in leading multi-discipline agile development teams and substantial experience as a product manager in a digital/ agile environment. Strong working knowledge of agile methodologies and user-centred design
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Proven ability to manage the full product lifecycle and translate user needs into deliverable features.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Public Sector Experience: Experience working with public sector or regulated environments, including familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards

Product Strategy: Strong grasp of product strategy, metrics, and value-driven decisions.

Leadership: Experience mentoring and leading teams.

Service Assurance: Involved in service assessments or assurance work.

Tech & Policy Insight: Understand tech architecture or digital policy impacts.

Digital Transformation: Aware of broader digital change, especially in government.

Cross-Team Work: Skilled at working across multiple teams or portfolios.

Consulting Experience: Background in consultancy or supplier work with government or private sector.

Business Analysis: Solid experience in business analysis.

Product Management: Product management experience in innovation-focused sectors like tech, healthcare, finance, or IoT
